NuPlanet wins mini-hydro licence

South African developer NuPlanet has been awarded a generation licence by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulation Council to build a 5MW hydropower plant at the Mutirikwi dam, Zimbabwe’s largest reservoir. Technical feasibility and environmental impact assessments for the Mutirikwi project would start next year, with procurement, contracting and construction to commence thereafter, managing director Anton-Louis Olivier said on 1 November.
