Six companies have been shortlisted for a turnkey contract to build a 250MW coal-fired power station at Walvis Bay. The six – Aggreko South Africa, Sinohydro, India’s PPN Power Generating Company, Hong Kong-based Sun International Consulting, and Namibia’s Arandis Power and Xaris Energy – will be asked to submit full technical and financial proposals in the next month, NamPower spokeswoman Cecilia Pretorius said. The successful candidate will own 70% of the special purpose vehicle developing the new power station, with NamPower retaining 30%, according to the project terms of reference.
