Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) board chairman Omar Mithá has confirmed that ExxonMobil will take a stake in the Eni-operated Area 4. Mithá did not give details of the size of the stake, but said the government had been officially notified of the farm-in agreement. Eni holds a 50% indirect interest in Area 4, through Eni East Africa (EEA), which holds a 70% stake. The other holders are Portugal’s Galp Energia, South Korea’s Kogas and ENH with 10% each. China National Petroleum Corporation owns a 20% indirect interest in Area 4 through EEA.
