Namibia minerals and power map
Issue 487
07 July 2023

Published July 2023 this map illustrates mining projects and prospects across Namibia, including the location of copper, diamond, gold, graphite, iron, lithium, manganese, tantalum, uranium and zinc sites.

The locations of operating and under construction power generation facilities at mining facilities are shown alongside operating on-grid plants of 1MW+ and operating off-grid plants of 0.5MW and above.

Power generation sites are shown by fuel – including liquid fuels, coal, hybrid, hydroelectricity, solar PV and wind. Generation sites are marked with different sized circles to show sites of 0-9MW, 10-99MW, 100-499MW and 500MW and above.

Existing transmission and distribution lines are shown ranging from 66kV to 330-400kV. Cross-border interconnectors are also shown including lines to Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Power generation data was drawn from our African Energy Live Data platform, which contains project level detail on power plants and projects across Africa.

The map is presented as a PDF file using eps graphics, meaning that there is no loss of resolution as the file is enlarged.
