Nigeria’s state-owned refiner signs $1.5bn Port Harcourt contract

NNPC is pressing ahead with plans to revamp its network of refineries, as Nigeria struggles to build enough capacity to meet demand, reports James Gavin.

Italian engineering firm Maire Tecnimont’s signing of a $1.5bn engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for rehabilitation works at the Port Harcourt Refinery Complex on 6 April provided a much-needed uplift to Nigeria’s faltering efforts to rebuild its refining network.
