Kenya Power has launched a live line maintenance service at a cost of $20m, aimed at maintaining the network while reducing scheduled outages. The initiative is part of the wider Kenya Electricity Modernisation Programme funded by the World Bank with $257m. The project also involves installation of supervisory control and data acquisition equipment at substations for real-time network monitoring.Officials expect live maintenance of the power network to boost sales and avert businesses losses brought about by supply disruptions.
