Zimbabwe: ZPC tests Kariba South Unit VIII

On 27 February Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) began the first seven-day mandatory test run for the 150MW Unit VIII of the Kariba South hydropower project, local media reports. The exercise will test the performance and functionality of the unit prior to commissioning next month. ZPC acting managing director Joshua Chirikutsi was quoted by The Herald as saying that, “the project is 98% complete and is set to be completed by the planned date of 10 March this year.” Unit VII is already operating.
