Nigeria: Consultants sought for NESP phase II

22 May 2019 | 1 minute read

German development agency GIZ is seeking bids from consultants to assist with the second phase of the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by GIZ and the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing. NESP aims to improve the Nigerian market for renewable energy and energy efficiency, in particular addressing the high cost of commercial debt in the country.

A first phase has already been completed, supporting the development and adoption of regulatory frameworks to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in industries and buildings. A second phase will see a team of consultants work with stakeholders in government and industry to develop financing mechanisms tailor-made for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Consultants will survey existing financing schemes both in Nigeria and other developing countries, map climate finance stakeholders in Nigeria, undertake an in-depth analysis of selected schemes, develop new financing schemes, and provide training and support for financial institutions and developers.

The contract is scheduled to be completed by 30 November 2020 and will involve 568 workdays. Bids are due by 21 June 2019 and work is expected to begin in September. Questions can only be submitted via GIZ’s contract marketplace - https://ausschreibungen.GIZ.de/.
