Niger: Tendering to begin early 2018 for electrification project

Niger’s national utility Société Nigérienne d’Electricité (Nigelec) has released a general procurement notice for the African Development Bank (AfDB) funded Rural, Peri-urban, and Urban Electrification Project (Pepern). Works to be tendered include the extension of the network to facilitate 46,000 new connections and construction of the 20MW second phase of the existing 80MW Gourou Banda thermal power plant. Contracts for supply of materials, project management and supervision, and technical assistance and studies will also be tendered. Procurement is expected to begin in January and February 2018.
