As South Africas years of surplus electricity come to an end, SADC governments are being forced to rethink their supply strategies, giving impetus to projects that were stuck on the drawing board. Major funding initiatives are needed to help a vulnerable region to cope as Eskom focuses on the home market, writes Jon Marks in Johannesburg.
