The frantic search for oil in the Gulf of Guinea had bypassed the sleepy twin-island state, but now Sao Tome & Principe looks set to be caught in the middle of West Africa's exploration and development boom, with potential border disputes looming and intense competition from foreign groups looking to establish logistical strongholds, writes Martin Clark.
