Austria’s Andritz VA Tech Hydro announced in mid-December that it had received a contract valued at more than 40m ($54m) from AES Sonel for refurbishment of the 263MW Edea and 396MW Songloulou hydropower projects on the Sanaga River. The hydropower equipment supplier said it would replace turbine-generators of units 1, 2, and 3 at Edea I. The three units were supplied and installed by the Austrian company between 1949 and 1955 and will each be upgraded from 35.3 MW to 49.2 MW.

Consultants sought for Lom Pangar study

Chevron businesses sold

Chevron Africa Holdings has agreed to sell Chevron Nigeria Holdings (CNH) and its operations in Benin, Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire and Togo to Corlay Global, a Panamanian company owned by a consortium of Nigeria’s MRS Holdings Ltd and Petroci Holdings of Cote d’Ivoire. Bermuda-registered CNH holds 60% of the publicly listed Chevron Oil Nigeria.

Bowleven strikes oil on Etinde

Edinburgh-based, AIM-listed Bowleven plc has announced a first oil discovery on the Etinde permit with the IF-1r exploration well, which spudded in May. The well flowed an average rate of 3,371 b/d of API 36º oil and 2.65m ft3/d of associated gas from the upper Isongo section.
