Addax farms into OPL 227

Addax Petroleum has farmed into the shallow water OPL 227 in the western Niger Delta, taking 40%. The other partners are two Nigerian companies, Express Petroleum & Gas Company Ltd (which retains 39%) and Petroleum Prospects International Ltd (21%). Express remains the operator but Addax Petroleum has taken the position of technical advisor.

Noble, minister upbeat on Benita

Noble Energy has announced flow test results from the Benita oil appraisal well in Block I (AE 137/16). The I-5 well encountered 13 metres of net oil pay from a high-quality Miocene reservoir and yielded flow rates of 6,250 b/d of oil and 5.4m ft3/d of natural gas. Noble said it expected each development well would be able to produce 10,000 b/d.

Cameroonian state company Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH) has signed a production-sharing contract with Glencore and Afex Global for the gas-prone Matanda block (PH-72). Glencore, who will operate the block adjacent to Bowleven’s Etinde permit area, also has exploration acreage in Equatorial Guinea.

New find on Block I

Noble Energy and its partners have announced a new gas and condensate discovery on Block I, on trend with its Belinda discovery on Block O, enabling it to raise reserves estimates by 60%. The I-4 exploration well encountered a high quality Miocene reservoir that tested at flow rates of 1,634 b/d of condensate and 28.9m ft3/d of natural gas, equivalent to some 6,450 boe/d.
