Published October 2024 this map illustrates the problems Libya's energy sector is facing due to gas supply constraints that are creating a shortage of feedstock for General Electric Company of Libya (Gecol)’s fleet of existing, under construction and planned gas power plants. The main map provides an overview of Libya's main oil and gas production areas and power generation sites. Fields are marked alongside associated mid- and downstream infrastructure such as pipelines, tanker terminals, refineries and LNG facilities. Power generation sites include gas power plants, liquid fuels plans, and those powered by gas and liquid fuels. The map also shows the location of building materials plants that rely on gas supplies for their production activities. A small chart shows average daily oil production in 2023 across Libya's oil production ventures. A second chart shows gas production and supply with a pie showing the quantities of gas in Sep 2024 committed to consumers (including power plants, NOC affiliates and building materials plants). The map is available as a PDF file using eps graphics, meaning that there is no loss of resolution as the file is enlarged.

The ruling Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (Frelimo) party and its candidate, Daniel Chapo, have been officially declared the landslide winners of Mozambique’s presidential and legislative polls by the Comissão Nacional de Eleições (CNE – National Elections Commission), after hotly contested and violent elections were held on 9 October. An already discredited electoral process was further undermined by the assassination of two opposition figures prior to the results being declared by the CNE. A volatile situation is adding to investor jitters that could make financing Mozambique’s long-stalled plans to become a significant LNG exporter much more difficult, while more political turbulence beckons.
