Prior to his current appointment, Tarik served as acting chief executive officer at the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen). He rejoined Masen – where he was managing director, head of development and member of the executive committee from June 2017 to July 2022 – from Total Eren (part of TotalEnergies), where he was vice president in charge of worldwide hydrogen development activities.
At Total Eren, he led the development of numerous green hydrogen projects totalling more than 60 GW of electrolysis capacity, with projects in Morocco, Egypt, Mauritania, Tunisia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Australia. He was responsible for all development processes from renewable production to the final product (green H2, ammonia, compressed H2, methanol). He was also in charge of securing purchase contracts with offtakers (mainly Germany, Austria and the Netherlands in Europe and Japan and South Korea in Asia).
Tarik is an engineer in electrical engineering and automation and holds a master’s in industrial information systems from Ecole Centrale and INSA Lyon. He also has an MBA from Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris.
