Chiedu is a seasoned administrator in the electricity supply industry, a legal practitioner, and a certified infrastructure regulation specialist who has held various leadership and liaison roles across Nigeria’s electricity supply value chain. He served as the managing director and chief executive of Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) from June 2016 to August 2024. Prior to this position, he served as the senior special assistant to the president on power privatisation in the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria from 2015 to 2016, during which time he also acted as the head of the advisory power team in the Office of the Vice President.
Chiedu served for over four years as an embedded legal consultant at the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), actively participating in electric power reforms and negotiating several successful privatisation transactions. He later joined the transaction advisory team at BPE, where he coordinated the legal work stream for the privatisation of former state-owned electricity companies in Nigeria.
Before his tenure in the Presidency, Chiedu was engaged by the USAID Power Africa Transaction and Reform Program as an embedded adviser to the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), providing legal support in developing electric power contracts, including power purchase agreements and related credit support documentation.
Chiedu has been qualified as a lawyer in Nigeria for over 33 years. He holds an LLB degree and a master of laws degree from University of Lagos, along with several diplomas and certificates in international legal practice, electricity industry restructuring, and utilities regulation.
