Big gas and security – getting LNG out of Mozambique

Eni exported Mozambique’s first LNG cargo from the troubled Cabo Delgado region in 2022.  The coming year will offer indications of whether more majors feel sufficiently comfortable to launch their transformative LNG schemes and look beyond the force majeure triggered when jihadists insurgents attacked in March 2021.

ExxonMobil has yet to reach a final investment decision for Rovuma LNG. TotalEnergies had made an FID and started work on Mozambique LNG before insurgents attacked Palma.

Mozambique: Indian shareholder gives MLNG restart update

Indian parastatal ONGC Videsh, holder of a 16% net interest in the TotalEnergies-operated Mozambique liquified natural gas (MLNG) development, has provided an update of when it expects force majeure at the 13.1m t/yr project to be lifted.
