Khobab (138MW). Located in Namakwa, Northern Cape. Consortium led by Ireland’s Mainstream Renewable Power, including black economic empowerment company Thebe Investment Corporation, Old Mutual Investment Group-managed IDEAS Managed Fund, Futuregrowth Asset Management, South African developer Genesis Eco Energy in partnership with clean technology private equity fund Lereko Metier Sustainable Capital, and local community members. Project debt arranged and underwritten by Barclays, Development Bank of Southern Africa and Danish export credit agency Eksport Kredit Fonden. The consortium expects its three projects to cost around R9bn ($878m).
