Energy minister Jeff Radebe has committed to concluding a review of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) – the document setting out South Africa’s electricity generation mix – by mid-August. Adoption of the document is expected to resolve a number of outstanding issues facing the sector, in particular the fate of renewables, gas and nuclear procurement programmes. The IRP was intended to be updated every two years following the publication of the first plan in 2010.
