South Africa: Final Ingula unit synchronised

Eskom synchronised the fourth and final 333MW unit at the Ingula pumped storage plant to the grid on 16 June. The unit will undergo further testing before being declared commercial and handed over to the generation division for operation. The Ingula scheme in the Drakensberg escarpment consists of the upper Bedford dam and lower Bramhoek dam, 4.6km apart and connected by waterway tunnels.
