Italy’s Enel Green Power announced on 4 November that it has begun construction on two 140MW wind power plants, Karusa and Soetwater. Both €200m plants are located in the Karoo Hoogland district in the Northern Cape. They are expected to generate a combined 585GWh/yr when they come online towards the end of 2021. The start of construction means that Enel is now building five wind power plants in the country, including Nxuba and Oyster Bay in the Northern Cape and Garob in Eastern Cape, all 140MW.
