Issue 434 - 11 Mar 2021 | 1 minute read

A 25MWe biomass power plant at Sappi’s Ngodwana Pulp and Paper Mill in Mpumalanga is close to completion, Ngodwana Energy general manager Raymond Chirwa told African Energy. Commissioning is expected in Q3/Q4 of this year. The plant, 50km west of Mbombela, will use 35t/h of biomass waste from surrounding plantations, as well as waste materials from the mill production process, generating around 200GWh/yr.
