Nigeria’s Taleveras Group has been named the preferred bidder for the Afam Power Generation Company after making a $260m bid. TES Power, a consortium led by China National Electric Engineering Company, was named as the reserve bidder, having offered $223m. Bidding for the Afam generation company, the only remaining state-owned genco of those put up for privatisation in 2010 was initially suspended after former power minister Professor Barth Nnaji was found to have an interest in one of the bidding consortia.
