New company paves way for Eskom replacement

Issue 282 - 26 Jul 2014 | 1 minute read

The Senegal River Basin Development Authority (OMVS) has established a new company to manage the Manantali and Félou dams. The Société d’Exploitation de Manantali et de Félou was set up as a subsidiary of the Société de Gestion de l’Energie de Manantali (Sogem) to take over from Eskom Energie Manantali, following the expiry of Eskom’s management contract on 30 June. An OMVS statement said a new tender process would be held to select a new operator. Eskom, which signed a 15-year contract in 2001, had been operating under a temporary contract since September 2012.
