Morocco: King pushes accelerated reform agenda

As King Mohammed VI maintains pressure on officials to deliver results in key sectors, Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) president Mustapha Bakkoury was called to the royal palace in Casablanca on 26 January to report on progress across the renewable energy programme. The king was said to be concerned to streamline the operations of state energy sector bodies and Masen’s international expansion strategy. A delay in the transfer of the stake in Masen held by Société d’Investissements Energétiques (SIE) to Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE) was one issue.
