Ghana: BioTherm awarded 20MW solar power project

South Africa-based BioTherm Energy has been selected as preferred bidder for a 20MW solar photovoltaic project. The project will be developed on a build, own, operate basis, wholly owned by BioTherm, with a 20-year power purchase agreement. BioTherm told African Energy that financial close was anticipated in Q3 2017, with commercial operations starting in Q4 2018. Project finance will be used, with BioTherm providing the equity portion and debt coming from development finance institutions. An engineering, procurement and construction contractor has been selected.
