Studies for a prospective greenfield Angola-Zambia Interconnector Project (Azip) have been commissioned by Zambia’s Ministry of Energy. The transmission line is likely to mostly be used to import power into Zambia from Angola, which has a large on-grid surplus of around 2GW, stemming from its large hydroelectric power (HEP) capacity.
