South Africa’s Department of Energy has delayed a decision about whether to select further power projects as part of the third round of its renewable energy independent power producer procurement (REIPPP) programme. The department says that it has experienced delays in finalising the approach to allocating additional capacity and the decision will now be taken on 31 December. On 29 October, 17 projects with combined capacity of 1,473MW were selected from 93 bids with total generation potential of 6,023MW (AE 265/7).
