Published October 2024 this map illustrates the problems Libya's energy sector is facing due to gas supply constraints that are creating a shortage of feedstock for General Electric Company of Libya (Gecol)’s fleet of existing, under construction and planned gas power plants.

The main map provides an overview of Libya's main oil and gas production areas and power generation sites. Fields are marked alongside associated mid- and downstream infrastructure such as pipelines, tanker terminals, refineries and LNG facilities. Power generation sites include gas power plants, liquid fuels plans, and those powered by gas and liquid fuels.

The map also shows the location of building materials plants that rely on gas supplies for their production activities.

A small chart shows average daily oil production in 2023 across Libya's oil production ventures. A second chart shows gas production and supply with a pie showing the quantities of gas in Sep 2024 committed to consumers (including power plants, NOC affiliates and building materials plants).

The map is available as a PDF file using eps graphics, meaning that there is no loss of resolution as the file is enlarged.
