Guinea's power infrastructure and WAPP priority transmission projects

Guinea power and WAPP priority transmission projects
Issue 422
10 September 2020

Published in September 2020, this map focuses on the power sector in Guinea and includes a smaller regional map showing West African Power Pool (WAPP) priority transmission projects.

The locations of power generation facilities that are operating, under construction or planned are shown by type – including liquid fuels, thermal unknown, hybrid, hydroelectricity and solar (PV).

Generation sites are marked with different sized circles to show sites of 1-9MW, 10-99MW, 100-499MW and 500MW and above. Projects that include battery storage are indicated.

Existing and future transmission lines are shown ranging from 50kV and under to 225kV.

An inset illustrates WAPP priority transmission projects stretching across the region from Senegal to Nigeria. The transmission projects are listed (with details including line capacity, completion dates and recommended completion dates) and marked either as short-term or medium-term priorities.

Power generation data was drawn from our African Energy Live Data platform, which contains project level detail on power plants and projects across Africa.

The map is available as a PDF file using eps graphics, meaning that there is no loss of resolution as the file is enlarged.
