Energy map of Somalia, excluding oil and gas blocks claimed in 'unofficial' Somali map

Somlia oil and gas map, including power plants
Issue 480
12 March 2023

Published March 2023, this map provides a detailed overview of the energy sector in Somalia.

The offshore excludes blocks around the Yemeni island of Socotra, which appeared to have been claimed by Somalia in an unofficial map produced by a previous administration in Mogadishu.

Blocks that were offered in the 2020/21 licensing round are show alongside Coastline Exploration PSAs, Somalia legacy concessions and Somaliland licensed blocks.

The map also shows  power plants that are operating, planned or under construction, with fuel type (liquid fuels, hybrid or solar PV) noted.

The map is available as a PDF file using eps graphics, meaning that there is no loss of resolution as the file is enlarged.
