Tunisia: Solar PV tender winners announced

Tunisia’s Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy announced on 3 May winners of six 10MW and four 1MW solar PV projects. Initial approval by the energy, mines and renewable energy minister Khaled Kaddour took place on 30 April.

The six 10MW solar PV projects will be developed by Eni International, a division of Italian oil group Eni, and the Tunisian state-owned oil company Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolières in Tataouine governorate; Tunisia-based developer Shams Technology SA in Kasserine governorate; local solar module manufacturer NR Sol SA, Tunisian investment firm Arab Tunisian Development Sicar and renewable energy developer Altus in Kairouan governorate; EPPM Engineering Procurement and project managers Nozha Daoued Charfi in Sidi Bouzid governorate; local agricultural company Agrimed SA, Spanish solar company AE3000, Tunisia-based chemical company Alimpack and AB Corporation in Sfax governorate; and Italian renewable energy developer Tozzi Green Spa, French company Smart Energies International and Tunisian-based company Nizar Tounsi in Sidi Bouzid governorate.

The four 1MW projects were awarded to local developers. Sud Multiservises pour le Transport et les Entreprises will develop a plant in Tataouine governorate. Entrepreneur Fatteh Nadia has a project in Gafsa. In Sousse governorate, Ameur Hammouda, Société d’Électricité, de Montage, d’Automatisation et de Protection Solar (Semapsolar) chief executive Abdellatif Hammouda and Adel Dhibi will build a plant and the final project was awarded to Nasraoui Khaled, cofounder and deputy chief executive of Tunisian renewable energy company Aurasol, in Beja governorate.

The projects will provide electricity to national utility Société Tunisienne de l’Électricité et du Gaz under a long-term PPA. A further 6MW planned capacity remains to be allocated.
