Tunisia: ESIA consultant sought for two wind projects

18 Apr 2019 | 1 minute read

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is inviting expressions of interest from consultants to carry out environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs) for two large wind power projects in Tunisia. The EBRD has been providing technical support to the Ministry of Industry and Small and Mid-Size Enterprises in Tunisia for the development of renewable energy projects. The ministry is heading a working group including the EBRD to prepare a two-stage tender for large projects which will include 500MW of solar at five sites and 300MW of wind at two sites. Prequalification launched in May 2018 and will be followed by a second stage to select the developers. An environmental and social scoping study was carried out in Q3 2018. Work on the ESIAs is expected to start in June 2019 and take up to 13 months to complete. Bids are due by 14 May.
