Tanzania: Consultant sought for transmission line studies

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd (Tanesco) is inviting expressions of interest from consultants to update studies and carry out conceptual design for a 400kV 480km transmission line connecting Sumbawanga, Mpanda and Kigoma. The project includes the electrification of rural villages in the Katavi region. Work includes updating the feasibility study and environmental and social impact assessments, preparation of a resettlement action plan, conceptual engineering designs, and distribution network studies for 120km of medium and low voltage lines in Katavi, as well as preparation of bidding documents. The contract is expected to take nine months to complete and is being funded by the African Development Bank. Submissions are due by 27 January.
