Malawi: Power market study

21 Feb 2020 | 1 minute read

The World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) is inviting expressions of interest from consultants to carry out a power market study of Malawi and the wider southern African region. IFC is evaluating several investment opportunities in Malawi, in particular the Mpatamanga hydropower project on the Shire River, and aims to evaluate possible electricity demand growth paths. The study will consider possible imports and exports to the Southern African Power Pool and realistic interconnection projects. Submissions are due by 26 February and can be made via the WBG’s eConsult2 website.
