Guinea-Bissau: Procurement to begin for distribution project

17 Aug 2018 | 1 minute read

Guinea-Bissau’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Natural Resources and national utility Electricidade e Aguas da Guiné-Bissau (EAGB) expect to make procurement documents available this month for a project to improve the electricity distribution system in the country’s capital Bissau. The project is being funded by a $9.8m grant and $11.3m loan from the African Development Fund and a $7m loan from the Transition Support Facility, both part of the African Development Bank Group. The project will strengthen the existing network and increase access in the city, aiming to decrease interruptions from 20 each day to just one, reduce system losses from 47% to 17%, and improve the management of EAGB.
