Guinea Bissau: Karpowership arrives

20 Feb 2019 | 1 minute read

The 37MW Metin Bey, sometimes called Nezih Bey, powership has arrived in Guinea Bissau, Turkey’s Karadeniz said on 19 February. Karadeniz’s subsidiary Karpowership signed an agreement with the government in October, finalising a power purchase agreement with state utility Empresa de Eletricidade e Águas da Guiné-Bissau earlier this year. The 37MW Metin Bey will provide 17.7MW for the first year and 30MW for a further five years.

Earlier in the month, Karpowership said that its new 40MW Göktay Bey had left its mooring for Sierra Leone. The 126MW Doğan Bey powership has been supplying 30MW to the grid since May 2018 and has a five-year contract.
