On 16 September, one of western Libya’s leading politicians, Abdulsalam Kajman, dismissed the newly appointed General Electric Company of Libya (Gecol) general manager Ibrahim Falah. Kajman, who serves as president of Gecol’s general assembly – the body that oversees its governance – ordered Gecol’s executive board to urgently appoint a new manager to deal with the country’s power crisis. Kajman is one of the original five deputy presidents of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Presidency Council, and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Justice and Construction Party.
