The solar home system market is showing signs of increasing maturity, with the largest companies raising more and more funds. Business models and supply chains are becoming more established and have proven resilient during the economic challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, and companies are increasingly diversifying to maximise sales to their existing customer base.
There has also been some push back. Consumer finance-based business models continue to attract controversy, with recent high profile critical press coverage of customers accruing high levels of debt.
