The Algerian authorities are targeting a total of 13GW of renewable power.
This webinar, held on 5 June, examined this emerging opportunity – the context, the possibilities, the risks, and how to address them.
The first set of tenders totalling 3GW were mostly won by Chinese and local Algerian contractors, but senior industry sources in Algiers are saying that this is only the beginning, and that the market remains open.
Many of the existing bidders are also looking for equipment suppliers, engineering consultants and other types of support.
The webinar was chaired by African Energy managing director John Hamilton, with participation from African Energy chairman Jon Marks and Algeria-based business consultancy Anzul’s director Oualid Khelifi.
African Energy has more than three decades experience in close monitoring and reporting on energy sector developments in Algeria. Chairman Jon Marks is one of the UK’s leading Algeria experts.
Algiers-based Anzul is a market-access & strategy firm specialised in guiding from the ground international investors and local businesses to strike partnerships around nascent market gaps and high-yield industries. Its managing director Oualid Khelifi has closely examined the renewables procurement dossier and the sub-contracting requirements of the current set of successful bidders.
