Public enterprises minister Lynne Brown announced late on 12 June that she had accepted the resignation of Baldwin ‘Ben’ Sipho Ngubane as chairman of Eskom. “I would like to thank Dr Ngubane for his contribution to turning Eskom around since the load-shedding days of 2014-15 and wish him well in the future,” she said. One Twitter user was quick to quip: “Yes, we can no longer afford electricity. Well done.”
