Nigeria: MoU for second Egbin gas plant

Issue 331 - 04 Oct 2016 | 1 minute read

Japan’s Marubeni has agreed to build a second gas-fired power plant at Egbin, in Lagos State. Marubeni said it had signed a memorandum of understanding for a new 1.8GW combined-cycle gas turbine plant on 28 August with the Egbin Power joint venture of Sahara Power and Korea Electric Power Corporation, which owns the existing 1.32GW plant. The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry invited Marubeni to carry out a feasibility study in December 2015 to support development of the project, and the Japan External Trade Organisation invited Egbin Power to Japan in June 2016.
