Kosmos pushes on in north-west Africa

Undeterred by another dry well offshore Morocco, Kosmos Energy is set to drill offshore Western Sahara in Q4, and hopes to extend exploration into Mauritania in 2015. Kosmos drilled a dry well on a Lower Cretaceous play in its Foum Assaka licence earlier this year but remains committed to a multi-well programme in Morocco, where supermajor BP farmed into its Agadir Basin licences last year. Kosmos has a new impetus following the appointment of new chairman Andy Inglis, enabling Brian Maxted to return to heading the exploration team.
