Kenya: Studies sought for small hydro schemes

US-based, Kenya-registered rural utility developer Virunga Power invites proposals by 18 August from US-based firms to develop a feasibility study to assess the technical, environmental and social viability of three run-of-river hydroelectric plants totalling 15.7MW. The contract will be financed by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), which has provided a $897,192 grant to Virunga Power Kenya to fund the feasibility study and environmental and social impact assessment.
