Ethiopia: Corbetti PPA approved

Issue 420 - 23 Jul 2020 | 1 minute read

Ethiopia’s council of ministers approved the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 150MW Corbetti geothermal project in Oromia on 15 June. Prequalification is under way for a drilling contractor to drill at least three exploration wells and up to 26 production wells. The contract is expected to be awarded in Q4 2020. Corbetti is owned by the Berkeley Energy-managed Africa Renewable Energy Fund, Iceland Drilling, Reykjavik Geothermal, and InfraCo Africa, part of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG).
