Claims and counterclaims as Alstom replaced at Medupi

Following on from the call of its performance bond last year after a series of problems at the 4,764MW Medupi power project, Alstom has now been replaced on part of its control and instrumentation system contract. Eskom has named Siemens to supply the boiler protection system for the power plant. Alstom has struggled to get on top of the task, with its system failing a series of factory tests, and Siemens is reported to have been working in parallel to design and install the system since early December.
