Sonatrach signed a memorandum of understanding with Norway’s Equinor on 17 May, with a headline commitment to boost co-operation in oil exploration and production and in new carbon transition sectors. Importantly, Algerian executives said they also discussed extending existing upstream contract terms beyond 2027 and securing the Norwegian major’s leading role in the In Salah and In Amenas natural gas projects.
