African Energy has assessed the state of the African power industry at the end of 2023 and re-examined the project pipeline for the 2024-2029 period.
The figures taken from our African Energy Live Data platform of 7,500-plus power generation plants and projects show that between 2018 and 2020, 49GW of new capacity was added. Only 16GW was added between 2021-23.
