African Energy's parent company Cross-border Information (CbI) is recruiting a Business Development Executive to work within our existing sales and marketing team, with a focus on selling subscription-based products and reports and services linked to our African Energy and Gulf States Newsletter brands.

The successful candidate will be contacting businesses within the African energy and Gulf-focused business sectors by phone and email, whose teams either already subscribe to our newsletters and reports, have attended the company’s events, or have interacted with the company’s marketing campaigns.

Experience

The successful candidate will have some experience of the following areas:

  • Working on targeted sales campaigns
  • At least two years successful track record in sales/business development in a B2B environment approaching prospective clients via telephone, email conference calls and email
  • Matching clients’ objectives with the company’s products and services

Responsibilities 

  • Reaching out to existing and potential clients to increase sales against agreed targets for the set products
  • Monitoring and maintaining all sales activity on a regular basis including lists of priority targets on a shared CRM system
  • Cross selling, upgrading and renewing existing business
  • Setting up group calls
  • Working with different teams including editorial, research, marketing and production to obtain the best outcome
  • Learning and internalising the key selling points of the services that we provide

Skills

The candidate will also possess the ability to:

  • Develop good relationships with interlocutors
  • communicate effectively with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Identify good sales prospects and business development opportunities
  • Listen to all prospects, understand customer requirements, identify needs and match solutions to those needs
  • Concisely convey our strengths and unique qualities to different levels and nationalities of business contacts

Knowledge  

The candidate will be able to demonstrate possession of knowledge or interest and appetite to learn in the following areas:

  • The energy sector, ideally with some understanding of electric power and energy transition
  • Business conditions in Africa and the Gulf region of the Middle East
  • Client approval processes and how they work in different sized and shaped institutions

 

Salary range: £23,000-£27,000 plus sales commission
